Senior Resource Center, Wisconsin Rapids, WI
Centralia Center in the Rapids Mall
What once was a vacant Wal-Mart is now a beautifully designed center which anchors the Rapids Mall in Wisconsin Rapids. This multi-agency resource center combines education, activities, services and adult day care into an all-encompassing center for elderly persons in south Wood County.
The two-phase project included complete interior and razing of approximately 16,000 square feet of existing structure. Careful and consistent coordination with the architect and the Wisconsin Rapids Community Development Authority was necessary to keep the progress of the project within the owner’s requirement, budget and timeline. Numerous changes had to be incorporated into the project due to unknown conditions encountered while completing the work in the older retail facility.
Many skylights and windows were installed, creating a spacious feeling within the facility. A 24’ X 24’ skylight and three 8’ X 12’ skylights added natural light to the building interior. The end result is a beautiful transformed community multi-purpose building for seniors.
