International Applebee’s prototype with redesigned interior
The Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar was the latest Applebee’s international prototype. This redesigned interior shifted the bar area from one side of the building to the other, to provide a more favorable dining experience. Additional amenities to the entryway included a timber portico, finished patio concrete to match the interior floor tile, upgraded interior finishes to include more tiles (which provided a cleaner look) and stained glass panels and décor obtained from local sports teams.
A major challenge was to complete the construction within a three-month period, during the months of November through February, as required by the operator. Daily temperatures rarely reached freezing and dropped below zero overnight. To complete the exterior masonry, heated shelters were constructed to house the scaffolding, material and tradesmen.
